Shoes to Wear With a Sweater Swing Dress
Cozy sweater dresses are truly one of my favorite things to wear during cooler months! They are always the most comfortable and truly flatter all body types. I wanted to share all of the different shoes to wear with sweater dresses to show just how versatile this item can be in your wardrobe.
These are all stylish outfits that you can wear for fall or winter and for so many occasions.
The best shoes to wear with sweater dresses all season long!
Whether you're looking for a casual, running errands look or needing to be dressed up for date night, your accessories truly make the sweater dress fit any occasion! Here are some of my tips and tricks for different shoes to wear with your sweater dress outfits.
One thing that I love about sweater dresses is that they work for all body types and make for such a chic look for your winter wardrobe.
#1 Knee-High Boots
Knee boots are really trendy right now and a great go to amp up knit sweater dresses. Knee-high boots really work for all different lengths of sweater dresses and there are so many cute options out there right now.
I love the snake print knee-high boots paired with a neutral turtleneck dress. This is something I would wear on date night or a girls night out.
Knit dresses are just so comfy and the best part is that they look great on everyone!
Wrap style sweater dresses are so flattering on every body shape and look so cute paired with tall boots! This is a go to comfy outfit for me when I want to still feel put together. I love the look of high suede boots, they can really be worn day to night and seamlessly transition into the winter months.
I love pairing a taller boot with a mini sweater dress as it's the perfect combination with the shorter length of the dress/ This is such a cute look and also would be great for date night. You could always pair something like this with a pair of black tights as well!
#2 Thigh-High Boots
Over the knee boots are my obsession! I have a few pairs and wear them on rotation all Fall and Winter long. A pair of thigh-high boots is probably my #1 go to way to style a sweater dress (total Ariana Grande vibes and I love it!) Over the knee boots are super flattering on the leg and also keep your legs warm when paired with shorter dresses.
A classic pullover sweater dress is instantly elevated when paired with black OTK boots. This would be so cute paired with a trench coat for the winter months or just for the cold days in fall.
This all black look is so pretty with all of the textures! I love the chunky knit black sweater dress with the black tights and tall black boots. This look is so chic and would be so pretty for holiday photos with the family or a holiday party with a pair of statement earrings!
An ivory sweater dress is a wardrobe staple – and you likely already have one in your closet! I love the cable knit sweater dress styled as shown above with a belt around the waist. It feels so classic and perfect for Fall. Another great thing about a neutral or white sweater dress is that you could really pair any color of over the knee boots with it! The options are endless.
#3 Ankle Booties
Ankle booties are another one of my favorite shoes to pair with different types of sweater dresses. Since I am on the shorter side I love that the block heels give me a bit of height but I still feel comfortable to wear them from day to night. Ankle booties are my go-to for so many outfits but I think they really add a fun feminine element to sweater dresses that I just love.
White ankle boots are also trending right now and they look SO cute styled above with a neutral wrap sweater dress. These solid color boots would truly go with anything but I love the look of them with the knit dress.
As seen above, my favorite way to style ankle boots is with a pair of tights and a cute sweater dress. It is such a cozy look and perfect for all holiday outfit ideas!
This same idea would also be really cute with midi sweater dresses, where the bottom of the dress would almost hit the top of the boot.
#4 Chunky Boots
I have been grabbing my chunky boots and combat boots more and more lately. They are so comfortable and I love the edgy look they give to my outfits. These kinds of boots are the perfect match for pairing with sweater dresses!
If you get too cold, this would work well with a pair of black leggings as well!
This outfit above is on my list to recreate! I love the cozy knit dress that is on the shorter side paired with tights and combat boots. I have combat boots that look similar to this that are so much fun to style! These kind of shoes really create such stylish looks.
I love the chic high neck look of the oversized sweater dress paired with the chunky boots. It is unexpected and effortlessly cool. This look would be great for shopping or a lunch date during the fall season!
You could also pair this with fishnet tights or leggings in the cold weather or skinny jeans as well.
I loved the simplicity of the outfit above. The pair of tights with the sweater dress and chunky brown leather boots is so simple yet so stylish. The ankle-length boots are really flattering on the leg with the short length of the sweater dress.
#5 Sneakers
Since becoming a mom, sneakers have truly become my go-to for so many outfits. I love that you can make them look so chic while still being comfortable to chase your littles around and get things done on the day to day.
A pair of sneakers is the perfect match for a sweater dress and can take you from day to night with the right accessories/layers in addition! Here are some outfits I am going to recreate this season:
I love this simple knit sweater dress paired with nike sneakers and a green utility jacket. Longer sweater dresses are so flattering on all body types.
This is the perfect weekday outfit for me between school drop offs and work to be comfortable and still look put together. The nike sneakers add an effortless feel that I just love.
I love how she styled this cowl neck sweater dress above and I am definitely going to recreate this. All you need is leggings (which is perfect for the cold season) and your favorite sneaks and you are good to go! This would be another great weekday outfit for me.
This is the same idea as shown above but when paired with a clutch and gold hoops it instantly feels elevated and you're ready for dinner out! I love the classic white sneaker paired with the midi dress.
The chunky sneaker look is really growing on me and I think it looks SO chic paired with the midi length long sleeve sweater dress and a great bag.
#6 Heels
If you are looking to dress up your sweater dress for a party, wedding, work event, holiday photos, etc, heels are the way to go!
When pairing heels with your cozy sweater dress it instantly becomes a totally new style and really helps elevate the classic cozy style.
Nude heels are always a go to as they really elongate the leg. I love the nude pointed toe heels with the neutral sweater dress. This is a gorgeous color combination for holiday photos and I just love the monochromatic look.
Everyone has a pair of black pumps in the closet and if you are needing a fast holiday party look just grab your favorite sweater dress, black heels and statement jewelry and you are good to go!
This would also be a gorgeous look for date night out.
A stiletto heel really gives a sexy look to a knit dress. I love the strappy heels paired with the form fitting knit midi dress. This would be great if you have a winter wedding or holiday party! I also think this would be gorgeous paired with a long cardigan over top or a black leather jacket.
