Adventure Time , aslinya berjudul Adventure Time with Finn & Jake , adalah serial televisi animasi Amerika yang dibuat oleh Pendleton Ward untuk Cartoon Network. Menurut pencipta serial Pendleton Ward, gaya pertunjukan dipengaruhi oleh waktu menghadiri California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) dan pengalamannya bekerja sebagai penulis dan artis papan cerita The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, serial yang tayang di Cartoon Network dari 2008 hingga 2010. Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan Animation World Network, Ward mengatakan dia berusaha untuk menggabungkan humor subversif Adventure Time dengan momen "indah", menggunakan film Hayao Miyazaki, My Neighbor Totoro sebagai inspirasi untuk yang terakhir.[3] Ward juga menyebut Home Movies dan Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist sebagai pengaruh, sebagian besar karena kedua acara itu "santai" dan menampilkan "dialog percakapan yang terasa alami [dan tidak] berlebihan [atau] kartun dan melengking".[4]
